OpenHands
OpenHands is an MIT-licensed open AI engineering-agent platform. Its Agent Canvas, desktop app, Cloud, SDK, and automations can run OpenHands, Codex, Claude Code, Gemini, and other agents locally, in Docker or VMs, on private infrastructure, or as a hosted service.
Why use it
Its value is not another chat box but one observable surface for parallel conversations, scheduled work, GitHub and Slack automations, and interchangeable agent backends. Game teams can turn dependency upgrades, crash triage, CI repairs, and recurring repository checks into long-running yet traceable workflows.
Where it fits
Find engines, frameworks, code libraries, version control, and production automation.
What to check
Agent backends, models, and third-party connectors carry their own cost, data, and license terms. Self-hosting does not provide isolation automatically; internet-facing deployments need authentication, sandboxing, secret management, least privilege, and audit controls, while cloud and enterprise features follow separate service terms.
