CURATION & VERIFICATION

Curation and verification standard

We treat editorial curation, automated link checks, and media-license review as separate activities and label them separately.

GameCraft exists to reduce dead ends for independent game makers, not to present an eternally correct ranking. Pricing, licensing, regional access, and product status can change; consequential decisions should always be checked against official terms.

01

What qualifies for inclusion

A resource must support a real task in the indie-game lifecycle and provide a verifiable official entry point.

The same product is not duplicated for sub-features, former names, or URL variants. Mirrors, marketing-only landing pages, and clearly abandoned projects with no practical value are not included to inflate the catalog.

Open source and free access are separate facts. Viewable source is not automatically described as open source, and a free trial is not described as free.

02

Content record updated

The date means that the description, classification, or structured facts entered the current content version on that date.

It does not claim that every price, license, feature, and regional policy was revalidated that day, and it is not an endorsement. Read the caveats and confirm official terms before adopting a resource.

03

Automated official-site check

The automated check only tests whether an official entry point could be reached and returned a response at audit time. It is recorded separately from editorial review.

Blocked and unreachable do not mean broken. Bot protection, login walls, regional restrictions, rate limits, and temporary network failures can all produce those results. A clear failure signal is marked only as possibly broken and still requires human review.

04

What each automated status means

Reached
The check received an expected successful response.
Blocked
The site rejected or restricted automation; a human browser may still work.
Unreachable
No usable response arrived before a timeout or network error; this is not proof of failure.
Unexpected
The site returned a response that needs more context.
Possibly broken
A clear failure signal was observed and is queued for human review.

05

Screenshots, logos, and licensing

Product screenshots are stored locally only when their official source and redistribution basis are clear. Source, attribution, license, and retrieval date are retained.

Logos help identify brands. When no trustworthy asset is available, the interface falls back to a letter mark instead of scraping an unknown source.

06

Ranking, privacy, and issue drafts

We do not sell rankings or accept paid placement. Featured weights are editorial judgments, not evidence of a commercial relationship.

The local shortlist, comparison, and recently viewed list stay in your browser. No account is created and nothing is uploaded to a server.

Resource pages can generate and copy an issue-report draft, but we do not pretend that an unconfigured feedback mailbox exists. You choose a trusted channel in which to submit it.
