Localizely
Localizely is a localization-management platform for web, mobile, and software teams, combining an online editor, tasks, versions and branches, screenshots, translation memory, glossaries, statistics, a CLI, REST API, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Figma, and AWS S3 integrations, plus machine translation, AI translation, and Flutter in-context editing and over-the-air updates. Its current free plan includes 250 hosted keys, one project, unlimited users, and unlimited languages after an initial fifteen-day Gold trial.
Why use it
The strong reason to choose it is the continuous path between a lightweight free starting point and an upgradeable production pipeline. During prototypes, design, native-language collaborators, and vendors can add context without rationing reviewers by seat. As updates become continuous, engineering synchronizes files through a cross-platform CLI, repository integrations, or API; production follows completion through tasks, branches, and reports; screenshots, terminology, and memory reduce mistakes in character names, placeholders, and short UI copy. Flutter games or companion apps can shorten controlled low-risk copy fixes through OTA while retaining approved resources in version control.
Where it fits
Use art, animation, audio, levels, and narrative to make the game easy to read and its world convincing.
What to check
Free is capped at 250 keys, and capabilities such as API access and history belong to paid plans. Higher tiers vary by hosted keys, projects, and features, while Flutter OTA is also metered by monthly active users, so unlimited languages do not mean unlimited cost. Remote copy may conflict with console or app-store review, offline operation, and reproducible builds, requiring bundled fallback, pinned versions, and release approval. Machine or AI translation does not establish voice, cultural safety, UI fit, or in-game quality, and unreleased scripts need vendor and model data review. Although Localizely's terms preserve user rights, procurement should confirm retention, deletion, backup, and refund procedures.
